“In peace, children inter their parents; war violates the order of nature and causes parents to inter their children.” ― Herodotus
Let's just call the mass murder of 19 children and 2 teachers further evidence of the war that actually is occurring in this country. The right to bear arms has become the battleground for something other than the protection of our nation. The clamor to bear arms belies an initiative to undo our nation. Good-hearted people mourn, again, in shock, outrage and helplessness.
We are not helpless. If ever we are to stand up, truly stand up against the forces of evil, it is now. Women, men of good heart, stand up. Your voices and your actions are essential to overturn this insidious momentum to harm that is driven by greed, lust for power, fear of being replaced and total disregard for anyone who is in the evil-doers path. Evil does exist. We shall not run from it. We shall not respond in kind. But we shall respond from the deep wellspring of love that resides within our sacred hearts.
I was moved and inspired during a visit to Buenos Aires in 2000 when I witnessed the Mothers' protest. In 1977 The Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo gathered outside the Pink Palace in Buenos Aires, Argentina, to protest the disappearances of their children. The police removed them. The mothers, persecuted, some of them disappeared themselves, continued to speak out. Undaunted, they marched day and night beginning in December 1980. Eventually, though the news was sad, they were able to gain information about their family, friends and colleagues who had been taken for speaking out against the government. The marches continue symbolically every Thursday to this very day. "Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo," en.m.wikipedia.org
